Nomiss’s character has developed over time to become an iconic hero image. Inspired by the kawaii aesthetic, a prominent aspect of Japanese popular culture best translated as “cuteness”, she is ageless and anonymous, playful and hopeful. Each colourway creates a different mood, from playful pink to tranquil green, and no two creations are the same. The enlarged simple lines emphasise imperfections such as the slight blotting of ink where the line ends, or the gentile wobble of what otherwise appears as a straight line, reminding us that each immaculate work is handmade by the UK artist.
